Kai McCormick, Reporter

Kai McCormick is a sophomore at UPA in his first year of journalism. When he grows up, he would like to be a programmer at a major tech company, like Facebook, Amazon, Apple, Netflix or Google. As for his linguistic background, he can understand some Turkish and is currently learning how to speak Spanish. One characteristic he favors in others is the ability to ask questions, and his favorite motto is “Life without an ‘F’ is just a lie,” a quote he made up during his semester one finals in freshman year. The best advice that McCormick has ever received is to do the hard work first, so it becomes easier in the future, and he has applied this philosophy to his own work ethic. In regards to passion projects, McCormick has set up his own server and completed several programming projects, which led him to try to start his own Hack Club. He not only likes coding, but also loves to play “Mindustry” and “Factorio,” games where he builds cities and empires to carry out different tasks. McCormick describes himself as geeky, nerdy, funny, hard-working, weird and friendly. His favorite drink is water, and although his accent may sound British, he is actually Turkish. If given the chance, he would want the media to shine a proverbial light on Nestlé, due to the company’s influence in misleading consumers on the quality of water presented.
