Ria Pandey, Copy Editor

Ria Pandey is currently a senior in her third year of journalism. She first embarked on her path as a journalist in her sophomore year, and for the third year in a row, is pleased to be a copy editor for Aquila. Her focus as a journalist is profile writing and design, and she hopes to do more arts and culture coverage this year. Pandey would also like to shed light on animal cruelty in manufacturing and industrial businesses and hopes to address this topic in the upcoming year. Her most memorable contribution to the magazine in the second print issue of last year was her self-written and designed “Serenity Snapshot” profile that discussed former student Jenna Mi’s passion for photography. Pandey’s journalistic interests align with her hopes to major in design and become UI/UX designer working in the Bay Area in the future. In addition to her time spent working on Aquila, Pandey took on a leadership role in the UPA community during the 2021-22 school year as president of the Desi Student Association club. She enjoyed helping students celebrate and share their different cultures in a fun and safe environment. Pandey also enjoys sharpening her skills as an artist and practices acrylic painting, oil painting, drawing and photography in her time outside of UPA. She looks forward to bringing in her fresh perspectives, talent and design into the Aquila newsroom this year.
