Jollibee is one of my favorite fast-food restaurants due to its Filipino twist and high-quality food. Jollibee was founded in 1975 in Manila, Philippines. The original restaurant was an ice cream shop until 1978 when Tony Tan Caktiong’s family decided to open a burger shop. The shop quickly became famous as Filipinos enjoyed Filipino-American twists like Jollibee’s fried chicken, sandwiches, and deep-fried pies.
Today, the shop has two main locations in the Bay Area, one in Great Mall and another in Evergreen. I will be reviewing Jollibee out of 10 by its quality and taste of dishes, and its service. I went to the restaurant around 12:30, and there were already long lines and no space to sit. I ordered my food about 10 minutes later, and surprisingly, it only took 16 minutes to arrive. The restaurant was mostly clean, with minimal floor andtable trash. The restaurant had two large seating areas with a sleek feel to it as well as new flooring. Overall, I would give the service of the restaurant an 8/10 for cleanliness and good customer service.
Jollibee is famously known for its fried chicken and fair prices, so I orderedthe 2pc Chickenjoy with any one side and a drink for $13.99. I also ordered Adobo Rice which goes great with the chicken. For the drink, I chose their pineapple refresher, which is my favorite and the best on the menu. For dessert, I ordered the deep-fried peach mango pie, one of their most popular items.
Their wonderful pineapple refresher for $3.79 perfectly balanced sweetness and fruit flavor. You could taste the pineapple perfectly in the drink, so I would rate it 8.5/10. The drink also had a small sour flavor to balance the sweetness. Secondly, I tried the Adobo Rice which came with the 2pc chickenjoy meal. The rice alone, however, costs $4.79 as a side. The Adobo rice came out very hot and fresh. However, when I tried the rice there was a bitter aftertaste, which was unpleasant and it felt overcooked. Overall, the Adobo rice is a good side as it’s more flavorful than plain white rice and goes well with the chicken as a combo. I would give it a 7.5/10 for quality and taste.
After, I had the famous Jollibee Fried Chicken in the 2pc Chickenjoy meal which came with a leg and thigh piece. The chicken came steaming hot and was cooked perfectly with the skin on the outside feeling very crispy. The chicken was very flavorful and had hints of garlic powder and pepper, making it one of the best chicken meals I’ve ever had. Lastly, I had the peach mango pie which is one of my favorite desserts and items from Jollibee. The peach mango pie came out very warm and was filled with the peach mango filling. The pie was very sweet from the sugary filling and overpowered the rest of the pie. As a result, I would say that the peach mango pie is a good dessert and has a good taste, however, the $3 price and the sweetness of the pie led me to rate the pie an 8/10.
The prices at Jollibee are more expensive than other fast-food restaurants like McDonald’s but that comes as a result of its higher quality. At Jollibee, the price for a full meal including the 2pc Chickenjoy combo with a side, drink, and dessert separately comes out to $16.98 which is definitely on the pricier side for fast food. Jollibee is one of my favorites and is now one of my go-to restaurants. If I were to recommend somebody a reliable restaurant for quality food, I would recommend Jollibee.
