Daniella Alvarez, Reporter
Daniella Alvarez, also known as Danie, is a freshman entering her first year of journalism. She wanted to join journalism to become a larger advocate for climate change, for she is disappointed that even though people do know about the serious issue, they are not acting to improve it. With her friends, she makes flyers and starts petitions about climate change and hopes to spread awareness about climate change with a focus on helping UPA go green. Following morals, an important principle to remember as a journalist, is important to Alvarez because without a moral code Alvarez believes individuals are not staying true to themselves. When she is not taking action to raise awareness about climate change, Alvarez enjoys watching “Gossip Girls” and “The Office” with friends. Although she is an introverted person, she does not want to let that stop her from accomplishing her goals in life. Alvarez aspires to become an immigration lawyer as she hopes to help people stuck in the immigration system and feel the thrill of winning a case. She believes that people should never succumb to others’ standards because the pressure can be much to handle if they continue to devote themselves to meeting others’ expectations instead of their own.
