Gabriela Zurek, a freshman, is in her first year of journalism. Her interest in learning different writing styles and designing pages attracted her to the journalism class in the first place. In friends, Zurek values humor and those who share similar interests to her. Her aspirations to study international law surfaced when she was in third grade. Despite not having a particular college in mind, she hopes to someday study at Yale or abroad in England. In order to achieve her goals, Zurek motivates herself by developing her growth if she is ever lacking in an area. However, creating a path for her future career does not stop her from enjoying her other interests such as reading and writing fiction, fencing and occasionally hiking. Furthering her love for writing, fiction encourages Zurek to publish a novel of her own. Her passion for theatre also led her to be a part of an improv team, planning to someday play on stage. Besides academics and hobbies, Zurek cherishes her family and culture. Though her parents are from Poland, Zurek’s family has moved as far as England to the U.S., moving when she was a toddler. Making time for self improvement and being able to do what she enjoys are also important to her.
