| Sophomore Haania Anwar is currently in her second year of journalism. Outside of school, Anwar loves to draw, paint, run and express her creativity any chance she gets. Anwar loves to draw outside sceneries like cities and nature, and takes art classes to hone her skills and creative thinking while creating a portfolio. Anwar has been a part of the cross country team at UPA for two years and has been in Girl Scouts for 11 years, continuing it to this day. In her friends, Anwar values loyalty, honesty and humor. She believes that a friend who is truthful and doesn’t backstab is key, but also wants to be around a friend who can crack jokes and make her laugh. Anwar’s family and friends play a big role in her mission to help others. Last year, Anwar’s first contribution to Aquila, “Lost in Translation”, brought awareness about how people lose connection with their native language when exposed to American culture. This year, Anwar hopes to write about the harmful effects of attending a Bay Area highschool and other political issues that don’t get much attention. |
