Haania Anwar, Team Editor
Haania Anwar, a freshman, indulges in her interest in writing by starting her first year in journalism. Even though Anwar is often busy, she always makes time for her hobbies including painting, volunteering and writing poetry. Anwar finds poetry as a way to express her thoughts and feelings and she’s excited to be a part of journalism and follow her passion of writing. When she isn’t painting or writing, Anwar participates in many school activities, including the Muslim Student Association, CJSF and cross country. Anwar takes her roles in these extracurricular activities seriously, especially as president of CJSF. In her friends, she values loyalty, flexibility, passion, hard work, commitment and determination. Anwar lives by the motto, “Embrace life—all aspects of life, the happiness, sadness, grief and excitement.” This reminds her to live without doubt or hesitation, recognize what is within her control and pursue her dreams. In the future, Anwar hopes to attend her dream school, MIT, majoring in math or physics, and pursue a Ph.D. As a reporter this year, Anwar hopes to use her power in journalism to give those in the UPA community a voice. She wants to write about the long-term effects that social media has on teens and how the unhealthy perspective put into students’ minds isn’t talked about enough.
