Katrina Tran, Copy Editor

Katrina Tran is a freshman at UPA in her first year of journalism. Tran aspires to be a neurosurgeon, as she is fascinated by the human brain’s functions, surgical processes and improving others’ quality of life. Aside from English, she is also fluent in Vietnamese; taking classes to further expand her vocabulary and learn how to read and write. Katrina’s friends describe her as an overachiever and formal; she agrees with their observations and deeply resonates with the quote, “If you set your expectations ridiculously high and it’s a failure, you will fail above everyone else’s success.” This mantra describes her work ethic, and how she does her work at school. Tran has been practicing Taekwondo consistently for four years, dating before the COVID pandemic. As a long time martial artist, she is also a teacher’s assistant at her dojo, helping other students learn and hone their self-defense skills. Katrina believes school stereotypes are harmful and create division in school. She wants people to know about injustices between grades, as she believes seniors are more prioritized than underclassmen. In her spare time, she enjoys pieces of fiction and fantasy literature, sudoku, and jigsaw puzzles.
