Kevin Benjume, Reporter
Kevin Benjume, a senior, is in his first year as an Aquila staff member. His motto is “Everything happens for a reason,” a philosophy which, to him, means that in order for good things to happen, there must also be unfavorable things in an equal exchange. In the future, Benjume wants to be an entrepreneur and help his parents retire. For one year in middle school, Benjume lived in San Diego with his aunt. He liked the environment of San Diego and appreciated its proximity to the beach. He hopes to attend San Diego State University for college, where he is interested in studying business or engineering. For Benjume, being active is essential, and he can not get enough of exercise like boxing, running and especially basketball. He always finds himself coming back to basketball because it is what he knows best. The feeling of success is addictive, and losing just makes him more driven to win. As an Aquila staff member, he hopes to cover sports. Benjume is fluent in both English and Spanish, and in the future, he hopes to study Chinese because it is so widely spoken around the world. He would also like to try making music, specifically rapping. He enjoys listening to rap, hip-hop and Spanish-language music. A quality Benjume values most is loyalty. He needs to be able to trust the people he’s around because it is important for him to surround himself with people he can depend on.
