Layla Daniels

Layla Daniels, Reporter

Freshman Layla Daniels, is in her first year in journalism.. She describes herself as a kind and loyal person, and notes that she is more talkative than people assume. She experienced some challenges with appearing more shy than she actually is but faces them by trying to put herself out there and get to know new people. Daniels values people who are nice. The best advice that Daniels received—that has helped her branch out—is to remember to try new things. She received this advice from her parents and it has helped her to try new sports and hobbies. She often feels that she will not do well at these activities which makes her nervous, but she has learned to be more adventurous. Daniels likes being outdoors and participating in tennis and cross country. She has been practicing tennis for four years at her local park, and recently started cross country with the UPA team. Daniels likes hiking, exploring and going to the beach. She tries to visit the beach a lot and hopes to one day live near the beach after she graduates from college. Daniels hopes to earn a degree in design because she likes being creative. She plans to spend this year in journalism focused on designing rather than writing because it is more enjoyable to her. However, when she is writing, she hopes to shed light on the issue of climate change that she feels doesn’t get enough media attention. Daniels considers herself an environmentalist and hopes to educate others on the subject.
