Lena Nguyen is a senior entering her third year in journalism and first year as the Managing Editor for Aquila. In her free time, Nguyen enjoys reading, café hopping and exploring museums. Described as spontaneous and easygoing, Nguyen loves to experience new things and values people who are open-minded and down to try things with her. As a returner to Aquila, Nguyen has worked with article writing, designing, social media, photography, podcasting and more. In the previous year, Nguyen is especially proud of her contribution where she wrote and designed the spread for an article on financial literacy, an issue she felt strongly about. Nguyen is also very passionate about the issue of youth political disempowerment, particularly in how there is a lack of youth representation within civic engagement matters, and hopes to be able to cover this in one of this year’s issues. Nguyen’s favorite part about being a journalist is being able to use her voice to shine light on issues relevant and that actually matter to students. This year, her journalistic goals are to achieve more coverage on “real-world” issues, whether it’s through hard-hitting in depths, opinion writing or other mediums of journalism.
