Zainab Shaikh, Design Editor

Zainab Shaikh is a senior in her third year of journalism. Shaikh enjoys digital drawing, writing, reading, playing basketball and walking. Alongside those skills, Shaikh speaks four languages—English, Arabic, Urdu and Hindi. She is involved in UPA’s Reptile Club and hopes to help its husbandry department breed unique ball python morphs. Shaikh takes part in the Muslim Student Association and the Desi Student Association clubs of UPA. She has an interest in working with space organizations and dreams of exploring space in the future. Shaikh seeks strong and trustworthy features in friends such as kindness, intelligence and having a “ride-or-die” mentality. She values her friends and family the most and deeply respects her culture and religion. In journalism, Shaikh has an interest in art news design and looks forward to meeting new people and staying informed on current events. Last year, Shaikh wrote the article “Art Generating…” which focused on the rise of using AI tools to create art and questioned human creativity and originality when confronting new technology. As a reporter and design editor, Shaikh’s journalistic goal this year is to write an in-depth, cover technological advancements and help first-years learn how to design.
