Christopher Alvarez, Reporter
Christopher Alvarez is a junior and second-year journalist who aspires to study either political science, sociology or journalism at a California college. His interest in politics stemmed from watching political YouTubers and debates. As a journalist, Alvarez enjoys informing the general public of events they may not have known otherwise. In his first year, he wrote an online article about why students at UPA are vegetarian, which taught him a lot about the process of writing an article. Entering his second year, he hopes to practice more photojournalism, as he enjoys taking photos. Outside of academics, Alvarez indulges himself in basketball and video games, both of which he has done since a young age. Alvarez can speak both Spanish and English, and another language that he hopes to learn is Mandarin, since it is a widely spoken language and he feels it would be useful. An issue that he hopes can be corrected is the negative stigma that the media and public give journalism and journalists. A motto he lives by is a well known quote said by Walt Disney, “If you can dream it, you can do it.”
