Samita Golla, Copy Editor
Samita “Mia” Golla is a freshman in her first year of journalism. Inspired by a past Aquila magazine given out to students, she decided to join the class, hoping to hone her writing skills. With those skills, she would like to draw attention to gossip and rumor spreading, and the cruel effect it has on unsuspecting people. When Golla gets nervous, she likes to recite to herself an old quote by Audrey Hepburn that her dad once told her before she tried out for the math team: “Nothing is impossible. The word itself says ‘I’m possible.’” With a passion for helping people, Golla aspires to be a scientist. She isn’t sure what kind of scientist she prefers to be, but she has her heart set on being one. She is considering becoming a geneticist, helping people by analyzing DNA and treating genetic disorders. This year, Golla is planning to get into debate, enjoying the process of arguing about a topic and persuading others about it too. Outside of school, she wants to learn the forgotten and dead language, Latin, and possibly learn to play the guitar. Golla says that if she could spend a whole day all to herself, she would curl up with a nice fantasy novel, snack and relax, or perhaps go hiking in the mountains.
