Lance Peraza is a senior in his second year of journalism. Peraza spends his free time reading light novels and manga such as “Tokyo Ghoul” and “Berserk.” He also enjoys watching anime like “Bleach” and “Jujutsu Kaisen,” and getting rest. Peraza also loves playing video games such as “Zelda Tears of the Kingdom,” “Final Fantasy XVI” and “Kingdom Hearts.”Peraza values humor, honesty and friendliness as he wants to be around people he can laugh with and trust. Peraza is from Boston, Massachusetts—a fact not known to many—and is the person to ask if questions about the museums or theaters there arise. In 10 years, Peraza wants to be rich and happy no matter what career he pursues. As of now, Peraza wants to enjoy his last year of highschool and have fun with others before he graduates. As a reporter this year, Peraza hopes to cover topics such as the 2023 game awards, hobbies or proper measures for mental health. One of Peraza’s favorite habits as a journalist is writing his articles after finishing an interview.
Sophomore Matthew Tapia is in his second year of journalism. Tapia enjoys playing basketball and hockey. If he could, he would practice basketball or hockey all day as they help to clear his mind. The best advice he received was from his elementary school friend who always told him to have more confidence. This advice has helped him gain more confidence in himself before games. Tapia not only plays sports, but also the saxophone. He started to play the saxophone because his mother’s friend also played it. Tapia’s favorite genre is rap due to the beats, but he occasionally enjoys listening to jazz because of the UPA band. Tapia’s favorite quote is from a rap song he likes called “Dance Now” by JID and Kenny Mason, “Only show the muscle when it’s flexing time.” Last year, Tapia’s favorite contribution was his design for the article about Quizlet. Designing for the article put him under pressure, but he found it enjoyable because he wanted to put himself to the test. This year, Tapia hopes to be able to write more about his interests but also focus more on designing.
