Great change is upon AP students as College Board $Great change is upon AP students as College Board posted an update regarding the date and curriculum change of the AP tests for the 2019–2020 school year on March 20. Traditional face-to-face exam administrations will not take place. This means that students are now going to take a 45-minute online exam at home that will only include the topics and skills most AP teachers and students have already covered in class by early March, according to the College Board statement. The exam will not include any multiple choice questions, only FRQs for secure testing at home. There will be two different dates for each test (TBA by April 3). College Board is working with partners to provide students who do not have resources (phone, tablet, computer, etc.) to administer the exam from home. ⁣ Will this affect student scores? ⁣ “It’s possible because they’re only looking at a small fraction of what they usually assess,” APUSH and AP Government teacher Ariana Rodriguez said. “Some students may be better on the FRQs and because they can convey their thoughts better and their strength in writing. Whereas, maybe other students are strong in doing multiple choice questions.” ⁣ The change from administered, handwritten AP Tests, to at home, typed ones have worried teachers as they prepare to make adjustments for these exams. ⁣ “Both my AP Gov. and APUSH classes have already learned all the content needed,” Rodriguez said. But again, I’m just trying to help them from home, and I hope that they are prepared.
