Junior Alexa Garcia is in her first year in journalism and is excited to experiment in different mediums of journalism. Garcia has been an avid soccer viewer since she was five years old, following the soccer team FC Barcelona and participating in the sport since. However, playing in a competitive team at North Valley Youth Soccer League led her to decide to watch solely for entertainment, quitting her team in 2021. She remains a big fan of watching soccer, especially her top three leagues: La Liga, Premier League and Liga Mx. Garcia’s passion inspires her to move to Spain and work for FC Barcelona under a sports media or PR team. Her love for soccer originally came from the influence of her family. Both of Garcia’s parents grew up playing soccer and she naturally grew to be fond of the sport. Garcia holds her family dear to her, considering both blood and non-blood members a part of her family. The aspect of strong family bonds makes her appreciate her Mexican identity even more, getting back into folklórico to surround herself in her community. Garcia finds that loyalty is the most significant characteristic because she values long-lasting and trusting relationships. As a reporter, Garcia’s goal is to help with Aquila’s social media platforms because of her career interest in sports media. She also wishes to expand her knowledge in photojournalism, capturing meaningful moments that tell a story
