Gagandeep Kaur, Copy Editor
Gagandeep Kaur is a junior entering her second year of journalism. From a young age, Kaur has always been curious about the workings of the world and the truth behind current events. In her free time, she enjoys drawing, listening to artists such as BTS, TXT, Enhypen and reading various fantasy novels. To her, listening to music and drawing serve as a way to channel her focus and process her emotions. Kaur also enjoys walking her dog Brew and going on bike rides with her friends along the winding trails near her home. In her sophomore year, Kaur was able to join varsity track, which allowed her to improve her fitness and reduce her stress. As a junior, at UPA, she is the co-founder and president of the Neuroscience Scholars as well as the Indian Student Association, the vice president for the Asian American Pacific Islander Club and the event coordinator for the Interact club. These clubs have challenged Kaur to manage her time efficiently and become the best leader she can. She is also a representative of the Associative Student Body as well as a Student Visionary for the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society. Through her participation in these activities, Kaur has developed a growth mindset to always work toward success. In the future, she aspires to be a surgeon so that she can help others and give back to her community. She values patience, honesty, maturity and responsibility because they allow her to communicate effectively with others. As a journalist, Kaur enjoys the freedom and creativity that writing provides, which was apparent through her “Winter Holidays Around the Globe” article. This year, she hopes to write about issues affecting the community such as racism and controversial laws. Kaur hopes to nurture her love of writing while also giving back to the community she loves.
