Isaac Rios, Team Editor

Junior Isaac Rios is a second-year journalism student who is outgoing, scatterbrained, and dislikes avocados. In his first year with Aquila, he wrote three articles, his favorite being his “We Do Talk About Encanto” article. He found the movie significant because the plot and characters relate to real life. They are representative of genuine Latino families and their experiences. He hopes to cover more human rights issues in the years to come, such as immigration, police brutality and marriage equality. Rios has plans to attend law school and become an immigration lawyer. Growing up, he learned about the struggles his parents endured as immigrants and wants to help create better opportunities for people like them in the future. He believes it is important to surround himself with positivity and prioritize his mental health. Rios likes to work with people who make him feel safe and are trustworthy and humorous. The best advice he has received is to not compare himself to others, and his favorite quote is “For you a thousand times over” from the Kite Runner. It resonates with him because it symbolizes loyalty in friendship.  Rios’ favorite pastimes are shopping, hiking and reading. When hiking, he enjoys standing in water and running. As for reading, he has recently been looking into Young Adult novels such as Heartstopper and The Hate U Give.
