Jenna Plasschaert, Team Editor

Senior Jenna Elise Plasschaert, a third year journalism student, loves collaborating with Aquila’s staff and doing graphic design. This year, she is interested in page designing, writing in-depths or features and pushing her reporting horizons. Plasschaert, inspired by her love of children and her mom who majored in psychology, decided to combine those two passions and plans to become a teacher or counselor. Building on her love of kids, Plasschaert’s extracurriculars include working and volunteering at her church in children’s ministry (pre-COVID-19) and babysitting. Additionally, Plasschaert started a small cake pop business through Instagram after getting positive feedback from her posts. She is also very active and loves hiking and dancing. Plasschaert values those who are thoughtful and trustworthy, as she likes people who are comfortable and fun around. Plasschaert is the only girl in her family of four brothers which she enjoys. She never feels like an outsider but rather is friends with her brothers. Plasschaert’s favorite bible verse is Psalm 121:1-2 “I lift my eyes up to the mountains—where does my help come from? My help comes from the LORD, the Maker of heaven and earth.” This verse strongly resonates for her because it reminds her to lean on God and that she is not alone in this wide universe. Plasschaert believes that the peaceful Black Lives Matter protests do not get enough media attention but rather violence and riots in the news dominate media coverage.
