Kara Luayon, Design Editor
Kara Luayon is a junior in her third year in journalism. Luayon’s hobbies include watercoloring, designing Canva and shopping with her friends. Yet her involvement in challenging courses at UPA and extracurriculars such as theater, Filipino Club and WEB leaves her with little free time. Her experiences with watercolor and Canva design proved to be quite useful in many of her courses, including journalism. In ten years, she sees herself working in an entertainment industry, whether it is in advertising or any other media-based position. She hopes to be able to acquire a substantial amount of money to be able to sustain her own lifestyle and to hopefully in some way repay the people that supported her in her youth. Over time, she has developed a set of different social values; in others, she values loyalty, humor and honesty. Personally, she considers herself a pessimist, as she believes that if you prepare for the worst, you will always be ready, but also there will be a higher chance of life surprising you. As a reporter this year, Luayon hopes to discuss topics that people can’t see beyond the surface level, specifically wanting to cover neurodivergency and concerts.
