Olive Luong, Editor-in-Chief
Olive Luong is a senior entering her fourth year in journalism and first year as Aquila’s co-Editor-in-Chief. Outside of school, Luong enjoys reading in quiet and picturesque areas, reviewing books on Goodreads and StoryGraph, eating out and drinking milk tea. Her favorite genres to read are fantasy and science-fiction novels as she enjoys escaping into an imaginative world. In school, Luong finds pride in her involvement in many student organizations including VSA, Literature Club and NHS. Luong values patience, empathy and open-mindedness in others, believing that these skills allow people to be less judgmental and more unified. If people took the time to understand another person’s perspective, Luong believes that there would be fewer disagreements and divides. She also feels that people go through substantial peer pressure to be successful all the time, leading her to try to always be content with satisfying herself most importantly. Career-wise, Luong is interested in pursuing space communications and relations. As an EIC this year, Luong is excited to edit the rainbow of contributions that Aquila comes out with, help to gently direct Aquila’s expression and integrate the first years so that they, too, will grow to love Aquila as she does.
