Samira Madden is a junior entering her third year in journalism. Madden’s hobbies include dancing, surfing, listening to K-pop and vlogging. She has been a competitive swimmer outside of school for the past 10 years. Madden believes that swimming has not only helped her physically, but also mentally. She enjoys the intense environment and how she has to push herself to keep on going no matter what. Madden often reflects on her thoughts during her endless laps where everything goes silent and she has a space to express herself. In the future, Madden aspires to study at one of her dream colleges, Harvard or Yale, majoring in pre-law or English, in hopes to become a lawyer and eventually a judge one day. She first discovered her love for law when she was 10 years old and realized the passion she had for political science. Madden also extremely values mental health and hopes to write a book about it one day. She believes in living in the moment because a lot of people in this generation are often stressed about their future in college and beyond, often overlooking their inner child. Madden’s journalistic goals this year includes doing more broadcasts, podcasts and in-depths for Aquila.
