Alyssa Garcia

Alyssa Garcia, Reporter

Senior Alyssa Garcia embarks on her third year in journalism with ambitions of taking a deeper dive into narrative journalism and the ability to eloquently tell stories that need to be told. She particularly places emphasis on the importance of maintaining transparency with the readers and being the one to communicate the real truths of the world and our school community. This year, she hopes to contribute a multitude of pieces to Aquila, ranging from back-to-school and athletics to more hard hitting topics such as toxic masculinity. Her principal motto both within and outside of journalism is to adhere to honesty and seek the truth. She believes that patience is always an admirable quality to have, and good things will come to those who abide by this advice. Outside of school, she is passionate about soccer, a sport she has been playing since the age of four and continues to play competitively as a team sport. In her free time, she also enjoys a variety of different activities such as weightlifting, rowing and, of course, playing soccer recreationally. Garcia is also bilingual, speaking both English and Spanish fluently, while currently learning German, a skill she took interest in after being introduced to the language by her eighth-grade math teacher Esther Chen. She has an affinity for the subjects of math and science in school and hopes to pursue a career as either a trauma surgeon or a mathematician once graduating from college.
