Haylie Yee, Team Editor

Haylie Yee is a sophomore in her second year in journalism. She enjoys journalism because she loves talking to people and learning more about them through interviews. Her favorite piece she has written is “In My Own Skin,” an article covering hardships of having acne in high school. She really enjoyed how it turned out and how vulnerable her sources were in sharing their experiences. She values honesty in others, as she believes it is important to be honest to build trust in a relationship. Outside of school, Yee has participated in taekwondo for eight years and is currently a second degree black belt as well as an assistant instructor. In addition, she has had a passion for drawing since she was young. Her favorite piece so far is a digital painting of a cake. She currently speaks English fluently and a bit of Cantonese, but she also wants to learn American Sign Language. Achieving all her goals through hard work and to feel proud of herself are her aspirations in life. Advice from her dad to worry less and enjoy the present helps her to keep herself from overworking. Her favorite quote, “Only I can change my life; no one can do it for me,” reflects her belief that she is solely responsible for taking action to make changes in her life.
