Haylie Yee
Haylie Yee is a freshman, and this is her first year in journalism. She values her relationships with friends and family and strives to grow in her independence and maturity. This is reflected in her favorite quote that reads, “Only I can change my life. No one can do it for me.” Yee highly admires those who stand up for what they believe in in the face of injustice and wishes to never feel regret for not speaking up. What the future holds for Yee is currently unclear to her, but advice from her dad to focus on what is affecting her right now and not stressing out about what has not happened helps her feel more at peace. Yee often gets advice from her dad, but she has a good relationship with both her mom and younger brother as well. Apart from school and spending time with her family, Yee spends her time doing Taekwondo and art. Since the age of seven, Yee has loved Taekwondo and is currently a second degree black belt. Taekwondo provides her a chance to collaborate with friends, be a leader and learn about respect and control. Yee also has a deep love of art, specifically drawing. She started drawing in elementary school art classes and continues to draw in her free time today.
