Nayeli Brewster, Reporter
Nayeli Brewster is a junior and a second-year journalism student. She aspires to attend Howard University for its diversity and pursue a career in medicine. Brewster aspires to be a doctor, preferably an obstetrician or a plastic surgeon. She admires people who are authentic and honest, as well as those who have self-worth and take care of themselves. Family, friends, self care and mental wellness are essential to Brewster’s life. Her mother is a significant role model in her life, and they both live by Muhammad Ali’s quote, “Float like a butterfly, sting like a bee,” which means that one may be graceful and elegant while still being powerful. Brewster’s hobbies include playing the drums, baking and writing. She participates in the Black Student Union, Link Crew, and occasionally helps out at her church. Her favorite article produced for Aquila thus far is an opinion piece about funding for minority-owned companies during the pandemic. Brewster considers many of her acquaintances and family friends to be members of her family and holds them in high regard. When faced with difficulties, Brewster reminds herself that she cannot control the behavior of others, but can control how she reacts. In her second year of journalism, she plans to report on issues affecting minorities, the school, rallies and social media.
