Tyler Yuen, a senior, is going into his second year of journalism with the hopes of providing more coverage for finance or financial advice. Yuen believes information for young people in terms of finance and investing can often be misleading. He wants to give accurate advice that is beneficial to people's futures. In the future, Yuen aspires to fly for an airline. He loves learning about aerospace engineering and the capabilities flying has. This love translates to one of his hobbies: building model planes. Another one of Yuen’s hobbies is photography, which was one of the reasons he joined journalism. His favorite form of photography is astro-photography, but in journalism, he prefers to cover sport and events. The event that he enjoyed covering the most last year was prom because it was “satisfying” to see the seniors, who lost events to the pandemic, smile. Yuen wants there to be more coverage around new sciences, such as developments in cancer and epidemiology. The best advice he has been given—just like his interest in finance—comes from his father and is to take initiative. Yuen values initiative in people because it shows determination and a drive for success. A big believer that relationships are important to interconnectedness in life, Yuen values friendliness in people and first impressions.
